This vintage-inspired (think Mad Men! Christina Hendricks!) check dress is knitted bottom up with lots of shaping to create the fitted silhouette. The checks are created by knitting the horizontal stripes, and the crocheted vertical stripes are aided by a purl stitch around the stockinette blocks.

The dress is finished by bracelet length sleeves and a pretty trim with bow at the neck. If you’d rather have a sweater than a dress, you can easily shorten it to hip-length.

Sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL 86 ( 91, 96, 101, 106) cm; 34 (36, 38, 40, 42) inch bust circumference.

Sample garment dimensions:
Neck to hem: 76 (78,80,82, 84) cm(inches).
Armpit to armpit (laid flat): 38, (39, 40, 41, 42) cm/17(18,19,20,21) inch.
Model is 1.80/5’11” and is wearing a (lengthened) M.

Yarn: Colourmart Cash/Silk light DK 900 (1000, 1100, 1200, 1300) yards grey (A); Lang Silk Dream 200 (200, 200, 200, 250, 250, 250, 250) yards cream(B), (70% of these amounts for a sweater)

Yarn note: I recommend not using a yarn with silk or cotton or rayon, because it makes the dress rather heavy.
