It’s November, and soon all the leaves will be gone. But buds on twigs and seeds under the ground stay alive through the winter, ready to germinate in the spring.

Germinate is a closely fitted fingerless glove in worsted yarn that uses ribbing, leaf lace, and 1x1 crossed stitches to achieve a unique texture. Abbreviations used include ktbl, c2L, c2R, m1p, m3, yo, k2tog, ssk, and sk2p.

The sizes change through using different needles, not casting on more stitches. Make sure to swatch! Should your swatch fabric seem too thin or too thick, consider using a lighter worsted or heavier worsted as the case may be. Size S is knitted on US 6/4 mm needles; size M is knitted on US 7/4.5 mm needles.

Any worsted yarn can be substituted for Cascade 220 Superwash, but don’t forget to check the gauge.
