This versatile lace hat can be knit with any fingering/sport weight yarn. The pattern contains two different charts and inlcudes instructions for both a less slouchy and a slightly bigger version of the sample pictured.

The hat is knit in the round on a circular needle, stich markers will help you keep track of the lace (they need not be moved throughout the pattern).

Required skills are: Knit, purl, knit two together, slipping stitches and passing them over.

You will need approximately 55 grams/ 200 yrds/ 183 m of fingering weight yarn, 6 stitch markers, as well as a circular needle and a set of double pointed needles of your chosen size.

The sample hat was knit on 3 mm needles in a handspun yarn from Erna Ennen which will be hard to come by outside Germany, but any other fingering weight will do perfectly fine.

Pattern has been test-knitted. The pattern file has two pages, one with directions, one with charts. It is mainly in b/w with some boxes highlighted in orange. There is one quite small colour photo on the first page.

Please note: Since my computer is getting weird in its old age I had a lot of trouble installing a knitting font. I finally managed to persuade it to install one of the many I tried. This font wasn’t my first choice but it works. The decrease symbols are not the ones usually used in charts, but I included a symbols legend so this shouldn’t be a problem. New things keep the mind flexible, don’t they?
