The Baby Gnomes are putting on a Christmas Pageant! Join them as they tell the story of the birth of Jesus.
Twenty-six page pattern with photos of each item.
They stand six and a quarter inches tall to the tip of their hats.
Pattern includes: Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, Angel, Three Kings, Shepherd, Cow, Donkey, Sheep, Camel, Star, manger, baby blanket, and three king gifts. Gnomes are made in worsted weight yarn, and the animal heads (fashioned after hobby horses) are made in fingering (sock weight) yarn. A good way to use small amounts of yarn.

Update - I wrote a children’s picture book with the gnomes, called Gnometivity. A slightly silly telling of the birth of Jesus, with knitted gnomes and knitted backgrounds for the photos. Here’s the link to the book on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Gnometivity-Christmas-Pageant-star...

Other supplies needed:
Walking stick for Joseph – 2.5 inch narrow natural twig or dowel
Crook for Shepherd – 2.5 inch narrow natural twig with a bend or branch at the top
Two Clip on stitch markers
Nine small stitch holders to make the star and animals (round toothpicks work well)
Yarn needle
Polyfill stuffing
Eleven 1.5 inch fender washers to weight the bottom, one for each gnome (2 more if making innkeeper and Herod)
Fimo (or similar brand, bakeable) clay: two 2 oz. packages. Use 1/3 package for each animal and 2/3 package for the star. Sample used 4 packages of different colors: sheep - white; donkey - gray; cow - brown; star and camel - gold
Bamboo skewers or dowels, approx. 1/8-3/16” diameter – 22 inches of total length for the 4 animals and star. Cut to lengths: 2.5” for sheep, 3” for cow, 3.5” for donkey, 4.5” for camel, 8.5” for star.

Errata: on page 22, after making the Cow or Sheep ears, it should read: Move on to the Face: Cow or Face: Sheep.
