What am I missing?
Gnomon
Gnomon ˈnō-mən noun
- object, like the style of a sundial, that casts a shadow used as an indicator
The Boy has recently discovered that he likes hats. I made him one, but it quickly became clear he could use a second.
We went through the stash and picked out two favorite yarns, a gray dk weight, and a more colorful sock weight. Holding the two together gave a lovely effect. Then we worked out a cable motif, and I cast on.
This hat was the result. A bit of fiddling with the cable motif to make it a bit smaller led to the mitts.
This pattern is very flexible a great way to use up stash yarn. It is written in 3 sizes. The final size depends on your gauge and is nearly endlessly adjustable. Hat sizes (at the brim) range from 16.25 to 28 inches. Mitt sizes (at the cuff) range from 6 to 10.5 inches. Each project can be made with less than 150 yards of yarn.
The pattern contains instructions for both the hat and the mitts.
