The cardigan is knit top down and the pattern includes a stich diagram and a chart, as well as written instructions.

Great Expectations is the name I chose for this set and the story behind the name is a rather curious one. Recently I’ve spent quite the amount of time in the department of obstetrics. Or to put it in other words, I have spent quite a fair amount of time waiting at the department of obstetrics. Apparently- giving birth seems to take some time.

The pattern came along as I was waiting, I guess that baby clothing is the most appropriate to knit whilst waiting. And trust me, quite a few little ones was born during the time spent knitting this cardigan.

The result turned out to be very nice and I figured that others might like to knit this little set themselves, either they are waiting for their own children, or, like me, other’s children. The set up is top-down, and the start might be a bit boring and seem stretched out. But then you reach the lace part and the stitches just fly away. All of a sudden there’s full dilation and a brand new baby is born.
