INTRO
This hat was inspired by the tradional Greek Fisherman Cap which has become popular agan and can be seen around the city. Just like the original Greek model, my piece has two decorative buttons at the sides of the visor. Instead of the braid above the visor, I opted for a more rock ‘n’ roll look – two lines of metal chain stretch above and below the peak and go around the buttons.

LEVEL - ELEMENTARY
To make this hat you need basic knowledge of crochet technique and crocheting in rounds. Stitches used in this project are single crochet, double crochet and chain.

GENERAL INFO ABOUT THE PATTERN
The hat is completed in rounds, in 3 stages by holding 2 strands of yarn together.

  1. Firstly, the top of the hat is crocheted in a circle using color A. The last round of done with contrasting yarn – color B.
  2. Secondly, crocheted in rounds, the crown of the hat is made with color A again and it is gradually decreased to fit the head measurements. The last 2 rounds of the crown are made by crocheting dc and using color B. The last round is then folded upwards and towards the right side so as to create a double edge. Later, if necessary, between these two last rounds of dc you can insert elastic band to additionally gather and decrease the circumference of the hat to fit your head.
  3. The last stage is completing the visor which is crocheted in turns using sc.

DECORATION
The finishing touch concerns decoration with 2 buttons sewn on each side of the visor and attaching a double chain for extra embellishment.
