Often, when I have significant changes in my life, I try to find the positive in it and the best way forward. With my grandmother’s dementia worsening and being unable to provide her with what she needed as live-in care, it was time to begin the next chapter in both our lives regardless of how heartbreaking the situation was.

I had a lot of fun designing this triangular-shaped shawl! I was inspired by my own journey of self-discovery and healing when I created it. I love how the lace motifs represent the waves of inner struggle we all face at times - knitting is such a great way to reflect on our emotions and find peace within ourselves.

I hope that this project can encourage others who may be going through a tough time to express themselves creatively and find their own strength and resilience.

This triangular-shaped shawl is worked along the bias, increasing one stitch along the wingspan edge every row and decreasing one stitch along the other edge every 4th row. This shawl features chunks of mindless garter stitch nestled between various lace panels.

Worked flat, this shawl pattern contains written directions and charts. A link to a handy-dandy progress tracker is included to help you with your row and stitch counts should you need it.

This shawl pattern shines well with solid, semi-solid, lightly variegated, or speckled yarns. Picking an appropriate yarn for this project will ensure the yarn and the pattern are not in competition with one another, rather they’re working together to create something magical.
