Guernsey Sweater by Elaine Rowley

Guernsey Sweater

The sample in Knitter’s Magazine 1 was knit in Poppleton’s Guernsey. By the time of publication, Poppleton’s Guernsey was not available in the United States. Recommended alternatives were Emu Guernsey and Ryijylanka (at the time distributed by Schoolhouse Yarns and Eaton Yarns). The original pattern was sized to fit a 35 (38, 41)“ chest.

From Guy Knits:

This fairly traditional sweater was adapted for the first issue of Knitter’s Magazine from Mary Wright’s Cornish Guernseys and Knit-frocks (the Lattice Pattern on page 31). Here we reworked it for a quicker knit.

From Knit Now:

A contemporary take on a traditional Guernsey jumper that will be a no-fuss addition to any wardrobe
