This soft, squishy cowl is worked in the round using stranded colourwork. The resulting fabric is thicker and cushier than regular stockinette fabric, especially once the lining is added.
Pattern includes instructions for an unlined version with I-cord cast on and bind off and a reversible, lined version with reverse stockinette edging invisibly seamed to the provisional cast on with Kitchener stitch. The I-cord edging and jogless barber pole stripe technique (used for the lining) are explained in the pattern, which also includes links to tutorials on Kitchener stitch and the open provisional cast on.

The lined version requires approx. 180m/200yds MC (grey) & 115m/125yds CC (blue), the unlined version 90m/100yds MC (lilac) & 70m/75yds CC (grey)

For lined version, you will also need:

  • 4mm/US4 60cm/24” circular needle or size needed to get gauge
  • 3.5mm/US4 60cm/24” circular needle (or .5mm/2 sizes smaller than main needle)
  • Spare cable for a 100cm/40” needle or longer (optional – can use scrap yarn instead)

For unlined version, you will also need:

  • 4mm/US4 60cm/24” circular needle or size needed to get gauge

  • 1 DPN 4.0mm/US6 or smaller
