A beautiful lightweight pair of fingerless gloves or open mitts with fitted open thumb. Textured lacy stitch pattern which is especially written for loom knitting.

Yarn & Tools :
loom hook
large eye sewing needle
1/2 inch regular gauge knitting loom
(see pattern notes for peg count)

200 metres of handspun yarn approx 12 - 14wpi
(14wpi handspun yarn has been used in the example shown)

Pattern Notes :
(28 pegs was used in example shown 27+1)

stitch pattern is over three pegs so any size 1/2 inch gauge loom with multiples of 3, + 1 pegs is suitable, Glove is knitted starting at the wrist end in one piece as a flat panel then seamed along the edges at the end.

to determine the number of pegs needed, knit four or five rows of how ever many pegs you think will fit around your hand, without doing any bind off simply lift stitches off the pegs and see if the fit is right by wrapping the sample around your wrist and then smallest part of your hand. If your sample piece is too tight you will need to add more pegs, if it is too large you will need to reduce it slightly.

Remember you need multiples of 3 stitches plus one extra peg in your total number of stitches. For my hand 9 x 3 = 27 plus the extra 1 stitch so I knew I needed 28 stitches for my cast on row.

Once you have determined your total number of stitches you can simply unravel your sample piece and wind it back onto the ball, that way you havent wasted any of your precious handspun yarn.
