Hand dyed variegated yarn makes this design shine. Simple stitches let the color do the work without getting in the way.

I won’t lie, making it past the first 3 rows of this design can be a challenge. The cast on is very long due to forming the shell-like loops. Use stitch markers at regular intervals during cast on and you’ll be fine. Also, since it requires a long tail cast on, make sure to start with a tail several yards long to prevent running out.
