Gauge:
22 sts x 42 rounds in garter with larger needles = 4”/10cm after blocking

Materials

Needles:
US #2 1/2 (or 3mm) DPNs (or size needed to obtain gauge) for the ribbing. This hat is knitted in the round, and you can use circular needles, DPNs, or magic loop method to do so.

US #4 (3.5mm) needles (or size needed to obtain gauge). If you use circular needles, I recommend 12” circulars for Preemie—Toddler sizes, and 16” circulars for the Child—Adult Extra Large sizes.

Yarn:
50 (60, 80, 100, 120, 135, 145, 160, 180, 200) yards DK-weight yarn or light worsted weight yarn (Samples shown in Alpaca Links DK 100% Luxurious Baby Alpaca in Cream and in Kettle Yarn Co. Beyul DK in “Black Quartz.” If you desire a pompom, you will need extra yarn.
