Hearts and Bunnies Cardigan
There are three sizes for this cardigan, ages 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4. Six colours are needed in total: Three balls are needed of the main colour and two balls for the background colour behind the bunnies, the four other colours take less than one ball of each, so oddments can easily be used. In the first size you only just break into the third ball and by the third size you need most of the third ball.
This 4 ply cardigan makes a great gift. It is knitted in one piece to the underarm, then is divided for the fronts and back. The pattern is a great introduction to both fair isle and intarsia techniques, using both in different parts of the cardigan. Knitted here in wool, it could be also be knitted in cotton and the sleeves shortened for a high summer look.
This cute little cardigan was inspired by Anouk in the film
Chocolat and knitwear worn by children in the 1940s but with a
more contemporary colour scheme to appeal to today’s little
girls. Agreat stash busting project as nearly all of the
colours use less than 1 50 gm ball of wool. The pretty buttons
are also knitted, take very little time to make and use hardly
any yarn – another tip from the 1940s!
