This heart themed baby blanket is knit using moss/seed stitch borders, with stocking stitch and reverse stocking stitch forming the alternating plain and heart squares. The hearts stand out well in stocking stitch on the reverse stocking stitch background, which is referred to as the right side, although the blanket is reversible! The initials of the baby receiving the blanket have been added to the bottom right square using Swiss darning/ duplicate stitch.

A chart for the upper case alphabet is included in the pattern.

Sizing Pattern Note:
The blanket is 65cm/25.5in wide and 78.5cm/31in long, it has 6 lines of 5 squares.
The blanket can be made wider by increasing the number of square repeats (25 stitches per repeat, with 3 moss/seed stitches between each repeat); it can be made longer by increasing the number of lines of squares (32 rows per repeat, with 4 rows moss/seed stitches between each repeat). In the same way the blanket can be made smaller by using less pattern repeats in the width and length. Remember you will need more/less yarn if the size is changed.
