ABOUT THE PATTERN
The “Heaven Cardigan” draws inspiration from the celestial skies and the enchantment of Greek mythology. It is knitted using two strands of mohair to capture this essence, creating a voluminous effect reminiscent of clouds and an ethereal feel.
This cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down, commencing with the back panel, featuring an elegant combination of beads and cables. Upon reaching the desired length and completing the necessary increases, the back is placed on hold, awaiting connection with the fronts that originate from the same back panel, incorporating the same cable pattern. Once the desired length for the fronts is achieved, they are joined with the back, and the knitting continues as one piece.
The pattern continues with the bead motif, concluding the body section with another stunning beading design and lacework. The sleeves are seamlessly integrated using short rows and feature a beaded ribbing to finish.

knitting advice from the testers

If you use a mohair that has more yardage and is thinner, the dragon knitter advises you:
“The beads will weigh down the fabric at the center back due to the lightness of the fabric. So I would recommend using only size 8. If you use a heavier yarn, you can use larger beads. Consider the thickness of your yarn with the size/weight of your beads.”

“You can also hold a lace wool yarn with a lace mohair.”

Purlifcknitter notes:
“As a side note, I wish I had thought to use headpins or straight sewing pins with a large glass head to “preview” bead combinations sooner, as this is easier and faster than knitting them into the swatch.”

She also recommends employing three strands of mohair yarn together, which could be beneficial when using a thinner mohair.
