You don’t have to be Jewish to be married beneath a beautiful canopy!
The finished chuppah measures 5’ X 5” with an additional 7” decorative overhang. I’ve also included instructions on how we constructed our chuppah frame (see page 6). Pattern also includes instructions for the Kippah and Garter!

Here is what you will need: Yarn: approximately 6300 (not a typo – sixty-three hundred!) yards fingering-weight cotton
Needles: straight and DP #3
16”, 29”, 40”, and 60” circular #3
stitch markers (M)
Gauge: 6 sts = 1” on size 3 needle; 9 rows = 2” (blocked)

You will also need a great deal of time! Since you begin the chuppah in the center, the initial rounds are short, and you’ll cruise along through the first section. But don’t be lulled into a false sense of complacency that this project is going to be a total piece of (wedding) cake; the number of stitches increases by 8 every other round, and believe me, this adds up quickly. Each round of the last section, as well as each 24-row repeat of the border, takes close to one hour to complete!

A note to native Hebrew-speaking knitters: When I painstakingly typed this and had it verified, the Hebrew was correct, but in the uploading process it became evident that my computer just doesn’t speak Hebrew!
