Description of Construction:

  • Earflaps are worked first, then placed on stitch holders.
  • As the brim of the hat is cast on, the earflap stitches are picked up off the holders, and the hat is then knit flat.
  • Stitches are picked up all around the bottom edge of the hat, and a few rows of garter stitch are knit.
  • Ear flap ties are cast on in a long row, and knit in garter stitch, then attached.
  • Finally, the back seam is sewn, and a pompom is made and sewn to the top of the hat.
