Self striping yarn is the key to this adorable earflap hat! Sized for a 2 to 4 year-old child, it has double-thick earflaps and a deceptively simple colorwork pattern. Plus, it can be easily knit in a weekend, making it perfect for gift giving season!

Finished size- 19.5” circumference

Worked in the round with short row earflaps. Uses 1 ball of each specified yarn - I used almost the entire ball of Wool of the Andes, so you may want to buy a second ball to be safe.

For a subtle color palette like the one pictured, choose a solid yarn that is close to one of the shades in your self-striping yarn and choose a self-striping yarn with long color changes. If you want a more vibrant palette, choose a solid yarn that is a shade or two darker or lighter than one of the shades in your self-striping yarn or choose a self-striping yarn with shorter color changes.
