A simple stranded knit cowl which can use up left over yarn or give you another excuse to shop. It requires approximately 160 yards of the main color and 75 yards of the contrasting color.

The cowl is knitted from the bottom up. Seed Stitch Flares and has a different gauge than stranded color-work knitting, consequently the flare works well at the bottom of the cowl, but you might want to decrease stitches at the top of the cowl thereby reducing the circumference at the “top of the cowl” by 2 inches for a snugger fit. The instructions address this.

I have created a Project page for this pattern where you can see it in three different colorways including a version which used handspun. I also natter on about different aspects of the cowl which may be helpful or just down right annoying.
