Iggy Peck, Architect by Andrea Beaty is one of our favourite kids books. The story is great but the thing that grabbed my attention from the very first time I laid eyes on it was the illustration by David Roberts. I became obsessed with Iggy’s sweater and immediately hatched a plan to recreate his iconic look in a sweater design that my whole family could wear. I couldn’t be happier with the cozy, graphic and cool results.

Sweater is meant to fit oversized with wide upper arms. Kid model is shown wearing size 4 with 4” of positive ease. Male model is wearing size 6 with 3” of positive ease. Female model is wearing the same size 6 with 12” of positive ease. Choose a finished measurement with 4 - 15“ of positive ease.

A note about samples shown: Because I knit the size 6 sample for my husband who is 6’3” I added length to the body and the sleeves (1 extra repeat). The pattern as written does not assume that you have a 7’ wingspan as he does. For this reason, his sample required more yardage than I’ve specified.

Recommended Needles
3.5mm (US size 4) 16” circular needle, for collar.
4mm (US size 6) circular needle in length needed for your size and for sleeves knit in magic loop - this is the needle used for the hem and sleeve ribbing. You will also need this size needle in a 16” circular format if you choose to knit the cowl swatch.
4.5mm (us size 7) circular needle in length needed for your size and for sleeves knit in magic loop - this is the needle used for the colourwork. You will also need this size needle in a 16” circular format if you choose to knit the cowl swatch.

Sweater is steeked at armholes and requires a grippy, non-superwash yarn.
