Description

The inspiration for this collar was the last colours of late autumn flowers and the ivy in our garden that has turned red. Dark orange and red are the dominant colours with small patches of bright colours added.

The collar is a freeform knitted piece made up of separately knitted small pieces stitched together by hand. It fastens at the front with a crocheted cover button and loop. Various stitches such as bobbles, stocking stitch, garter stitch, moss stitch and rib knit give it a wonderful rich texture as well as the use of small amounts of fancy yarns.

It can be worn as a fancy wrap to spice up a plain coat or as a collar with a black top.

This pattern is to give you inspiration, so get all those leftover yarn bits you’ve never had the heart to throw away, knit up little pieces, arrange and re-arrange them, use a fancy clasp or make your own button and get creative!
