Josephine is an elegant beaded fingerless mitten with Art Deco-inspired motifs, named after Josephine Baker, the legendary nightclub performer.

I can picture her wearing these while exploring Parisien nightclubs after performing in her own show.

However, I don’t think we should forget the Josephine who worked for the French Resistance (and was awarded France’s highest military honors), or the Josephine who was asked to lead the Civil Rights movement after the assassination of MLK.

  • waste yarn or extra circular needle for provisional cast on

  • Crochet hook of size needed for placing beads (generally Size 10 or smaller; hook must fit through bead).
  • ~600/ ~60 gms of 6/0 beads (pattern calls for approx 600 beads; I recommend buying extra in case of imperfection, loss, etc). Beads shown are 6/0 Miyuki S/L Dk Topaz. I purchased 3x20gm tubes and had some leftovers
