A partner garment to Tekkō , this hat is designed with reverse stocking stitch to provide a monolithic dimension to the knitted fabric, whilst stocking stitch stripes and vertical expressed seam edge provide detail. Short-row shaping at the nape ensures a stylish slouch and fit to the head.

Notes:

  1. The Shibui Heichi gives a gauge of 18st/30rows for 4”/10cm swatch (sl. larger than the original Shelter gauge). This version is a 100% silk yarn and therefore a ‘decorative hat’ rather than a ‘cosy snug hat’! Consider adding a thread of Shibui Silk Cloud to provide warmth if choosing this yarn.
  2. Pattern provides detailed instructions, including a photographic tutorial for the Seamless Expressed Edge Pattern, many photos and schematics.
  3. The hat is seamless but worked back and forth on circular needles to create the original expressed edge along the seam line.

Size on model shown: L 22” (56cm) head circumference
