Key cozies! And they look like FISHIES!

Whats better then a cute little fishy? A whole bunch of cute little fishies!!!

My family has always had key chains with lots of keys on them. Like at least 5 keys, and often more than 10! And, my mom had an idea to make some key covers that looked like fish, so her large key chain would be quieter, cuter, and easier to feel at the bottom of her bag.

It was a great idea, and one that really took off in my mind as I started designing. Knitting is the perfect medium for these key covers, the fabric is stretchy and flexible enough to make using the key easy, and the fact that we can shape as we go, makes construction and customization extremely simple.

You only need small amounts of yarn for each fish only about 10 yards, (That’s a walnut sized ball!) and they can be completed in an hour or so. Not to mention that they look great in every single yarn I have used. Even the horribly ugly stuff I only ever use for testing and prototyping!

They require knitting small rounds, and picking up stitches from finished fabric, but they are so small, they would be a great project to practice new techniques.

Key Fishies make great stash busters, take along projects, and last minute gifts, and never fail to bring a smile when people admire them.
