GENERAL INFORMATION
A Granny square has four corners and four sides, this pattern is called a hex square as it has six sides like a hexagon, which when folded creates an L which forms part of the sleeves, front and back panel.
This pattern uses knitting and crocheting, for crochet its mainly 3 treble stitches in the same 1ch space to form whats called a cluster which creates a V along the sides and twice in the same 3ch space to create the corners. A htr and bobble or popcorn stitch are used for the sleeves. Granny squares are used on the sleeves and half of one to create a triangle for the front panels.
There are cable inserts, 2 on the front and 1 on the back, these are created by using a cable needle and twisting the stitches
This pattern uses British terminology, it is important to keep the stitches correct for each row as this may cause misshaping to occur
The pattern is made using 1 ball of dk wool, using a chunky wool, more strands, or a larger hook can be used but will the effect the tension.
The pattern is in 3 sizes, you will need to measure the body and decide which size you would like to make. Ages are a rough guide for the patterns as all children are different sizes and ages can be generic.
If brackets are given its for different sizes 1(2(3)
If the pattern needs you repeat the x will be used followed by the amount of times.
The pattern refers to yarn (A) & (B) you can use the same colour throughout or change when you feel, (A) is the main colour and (B) can be alternated of the same colour.
It is important you measure correctly and at the right places,
You need to measure:
Chest
Length of arm, from the armpit to the cuff
Shoulder to the length of cardigan.
If you need the arms longer then you can add more rows to the cuff, as with the length.
