GENERAL INFORMATION
A Granny square has four corners and four sides, this pattern is called a hex square as it has six sides like a hexagon, which when folded creates an L which forms part of the sleeves, front and back panel.
This pattern uses knitting and crochet, for crochet its mainly 3 treble stitches in the same 1ch space to form a cluster which creates a V along the sides and twice with a 3ch to create the corners. A htr and bobble stitch are used for the sleeves. Granny squares are used on the sleeves and half one for the front panels.
There is 3 cable inserts, 2 on the front and 1 on the back, these are created by using a cable needle and twisting the stitches
This pattern uses British terminology, it is important to keep the stitches correct for each row as this may cause misshaping to occur
The pattern is made using 1 ball of dk wool, using a chunky wool, more strands, or a larger hook can be used but will the effect the tension.
The pattern is in 2 sizes, you will need to measure the body and decide which size you would like to make. Ages are a rough guide for the patterns as all children are different sizes and ages can be generic.
If brackets are given its for different sizes 1 & 2
The pattern refers to yarn (A) & (B) you can use the same colour throughout or change when you feel, (A) is the main colour and (B) can be alternated of the same colour.
It is important you measure correctly and at the right places,
You need to measure:
Chest
Around the bicep/ top of arm
The epaulette up the sleeves and shoulder is 11cm across, your hex square will be the upper arm measurement minus 11cm.
