King of the Castle is a great sweater for either the first time sweater knitter, or as a blank slate for those wanting to add colorwork and other modifications. It is a step up from Machen, the ideal first sweater project. The neckline is ribbed, and then shaped with short rows, raglan increases shape the rest of the yoke. The entire sweater is completely seamless and teaches some key sweater making techniques in the simplest way with each step spelled out and explained for the beginner sweater maker. There is one row of colorwork to move into the second color at the bottom and the body and the sleeves. Knit with a heavy worsted or Aran weight yarn, it is a remarkably quick knit. And, sized from newborn to 16 years, you can make this for every child on your list.
