For centuries, the city of Delft in Holland has been producing outstanding hand painted Delft pottery. Capture the beauty of Delft blues in this scarf designed to sparkle from white to deepest blue. Classic shades of blue, simple stitches and clean lines will have you creating a dramatic statement to enhance your fall and winter wardrobe.

Or, let your own creativity and colour sense take you into a knitting adventure by selecting a different range of colours. If Vermeer could be inspired by the beauty of the city of Delft, imagine what you could do with the beauty of your own yarn palette. Suitable for any DK weight yarn.

Designed as a scarf but versatile enough to be worn as a shawl or wrap.

To create the gradient look, two strands of yarn are held together and then the new colour blends in. The pattern consists of two simple rows of a knit and purl combination that create a subtle texture to the changing of the shades of blue.

Circular needles are used because of the large number of stitches but the scarf is knit flat.

There is a photo tutorial on how to gather up the bottom edges and attach the tassels or if you prefer you can simply leave the edges straight.
