This amazingly fast knit is perfect for the whole family! Koala is knit in the round and then grafted, which creates the ear-like top. If you know how to knit, purl, increase and decrease stitches and graft, this super bulky hat is the perfect choice for you!

Yarn & Yardage: Malabrigo Rasta (super bulky) in approximately 70-90 yards

Gauge & Needle Size: 5 stitches and 8 rows to 2 inches on 8 mm (US 11) circular needles, 16 inches long or double pointed needles (or size needed to obtain gauge). The gauge on this hat is intentionally a little dense to help the fabric stand up.

Additional Notions: 2 stitch markers, darning needle

Sizes: Child (Adult S, Adult L) or approx. head circumference of 18 (20, 22) inches

Stitches/Abbreviations/Skills Used:
K—knit
P—purl
K2tog—knit two stitches together
KFB—knit into the front and the back of the stitch
CO—cast on
BO—bind off
PM—place marker
Graft/kitchener—using your preferred technique

Alternately, you could use a three-needle bind off if you prefer this method to grafting.

In addition, I offer the opportunity for work at home moms to hand knit and sell up to 100 garments from this pattern for a nominal fee. Please contact me for details.
