This scary sock pattern was designed exclusively for Super Sock Scarefest 2022. It is now for sale.

The socks are inspired by the film Freaky (2020). They feature stripes and are knit as fraternal twins, reversing the colours on left and right, to represent the body swap that takes place in the film between Milly and the Blissfield Butcher. A knife point and skull lace pattern in the stripes, and ‘negative space’ blades up the sides, are inspired by the Aztec dagger that causes the body swap.

Sock is knit toe-up with a short-row heel. An additional file with instructions for adding a mini-gusset and heel flap are available if a roomier heel is desired.

Four sizes are given, for foot circumference of 18.5cm/7.25” (small), 21cm/8.25” (medium), 23.5cm/9.25” (large) or 26cm/10.25cm (extra large).

The pattern requires 200-250m of yarn in each of 2 contrasting colours (200m per colour should be fine for sizes S, M or L). Any suitable sock yarn may be used; sample uses 50g/1.8oz skeins of Valley Yarns Huntington sock yarn in the shades 38 Merlot and 23 Sea Gull.

The pattern contains both charts and full written instructions.

Pattern is also available in a low vision accessible format following the Ravelry requirements (22 and 24 pt san serif font, black text throughout, no italics, all written directions, charts not required but are appended at the end of the LV document).

This pattern has been test knit.
