This open lace tunic design was inspired by a pattern for a tank top in the Filati Handstrick Magazine #52, Modell 42.
I used the same basic eyelet pattern, but knit the piece without side seams and in the round. I also made it with cap sleeves instead of a tank top and extended it in length, so it can be worn as a tunic or mini dress.
I love the slight sheen of the “Flamenco” yarn I got in Germany, and am still looking for a similar yarn available in the USA. It is a cotton ribbon with a polyester thread that gives it form, sparkle and sheen.
The yarn of the original Filati pattern is Lana Grossa Cotton “Paradiso” 65m/50g, thicker than the 100m/50g I used for my design.
