Laricina evokes the timelessness of Art Deco’s straightforward simplicity. Crisp angles frame the cuff of these striking mosaic mitts, smartly rendered in Peerie’s plump Merino. Made fingerless for a modern world, this classic geometric motif is easily accomplished with slipped stitches — perfect for those looking to embark on their first journey into multicolored knitting. Worked in the round from the bottom up, expect an ideal fit from the snug mosaic cuff and comfortable thumb gusset. The simple, stockinette finish fits perfectly into the sleeve of any coat, warming your hands without holding you back.

Please note: the stitch patterns used for this accessory include written as well as charted instructions.

Construction

  • The mitt is worked circularly from the bottom up. The cuff is worked in a two-color mosaic pattern that requires the use of a single color per round, but mimics stranded colorwork.
  • A thumb gusset is worked in the lower part of the hand, then thumb stitches are placed on waste yarn to be finished after the remainder of the hand is worked.
  • The cuff pattern is provided in both charted and written form.
  • Two sizes are provided. Sizing may be altered further by changing needle sizes as needed to adjust fit.
