This pattern is 16 pages long and includes the instructions for the chicken, as well as the chick, egg and nest. The chick fits inside the egg which then fits inside the chicken so she can lay the egg which then can hatch!

It contains loads of photos to help you every step of the way and it is written in American crochet terms.

You will need:

Yarn of your choice. Yarn weight doesn’t really matter - the size of your project will simply turn out bigger or smaller! I used Patons Smoothie DK Yarn (this is quite a thick DK yarn so it is equivalent to aran or light worsted weight in other brands) and my finished hen measures 16cm tall and 16cm long.

For the hen you will need the following colours:
White, red, yellow & beige.

For the chick & egg you will need the following colours:
Pale yellow & beige.

For the nest you will need the following:
Brown. You can add some eyelash yarn to the outside of your nest although this step is optional.

A suitable size hook for the yarn you have chosen - I used a 4mm hook.

Toy stuffing.

Orange & black finer yarn or embroidery thread for the details on the chick.

A pair of 6mm black safety eyes (the eyes can be embroidered if preferred).

A small button for fastening the egg & 2 press studs / snap fasteners for fastening the chicken!

Other tools you will need are a tapestry needle, some scissors and a stitch marker. You will also need a needle and thread for attaching the button & press studs / snap fasteners.

You are welcome to sell the items that you make using this pattern, but please do not sell / share the pattern itself. Thank you.
