Leftovers. Not a very glamorous name at all, but designed to use up all the leftover bits and pieces from the Sca Fell Peak, Luton Cloche, Cable Street Collar and Cowley. A stashbuster, if you will.

The Leftover Hat is, as you can see from the pics, a multi-coloured hat. Jolly, you could say, although it would look equally as good in multiple shades of grey. But then when winter can be so grey anyway, why not go mad with leftover colours and throw some texture in too? Wendy has been busy with the pompom maker again although this seems to be a smaller pompom for her, perhaps she’s moving into a minimal phase?

The circumferences given above are measured at the ribbing, higher up around the mosaic section they’re more like 59(62.5)cm / 23¼(24½)“. Cast-on to crown the depth is 23.5(24.5)cm / 9¼(9½)”, but this is easily alterable by shortening / lengthening the mosaic section (although yarn quantities would change then). You could always tighten up the rib circumference by working a twisted rib.

You do have to purl to get this garter-stitch mosaic pattern to work in-the-round - you are warned!

Yarn used - ‘approx. amount used’ means these amounts include 10% ‘wastage’, and are rounded up to the nearest gram / metre / yard.

Obviously, if you just wanted a single-colour, textured Leftover Hat then you wouldn’t need quite as much yarn as given above.

You’ll need circular needles approximately 40cm long or dpns, depending on your preference to working small diameters in the round.
