This scarf featured little owls with sparkling eyes at each border. It is reversible, with the owls on both sides of the border. The body of the scarf is knit with a horizontal garter rib pattern. The pattern includes instructions for a full length scarf and for a neck kerchief that buttons to hold it in place.

The scarf is knitted with 75g of Knitpicks Chroma fingering weight, color Parchment. The kerchief is knit with 50g stashed sock weight yarn. You can use any yarn of fingering weight, or for a bulkier scarf could move up to DK weight.

Techniques used include cables, twisted stitches, beading, I-cord (for the kerchief), knitting 2 pieces together to join them. These are all used for the owl borders. The body of the scarf is a combination of knit and purl rows with a knit edging. This is a pattern that an intermediate knitter should have fun with. There are a few more challenging rows in the borders and then an easy length of knitting for the remainder of the scarf.

Other notions needed are:

• Tiny steel crochet hook or piece of bent wire. (mine is made from an old guitar string)
• 24 beads for eyes with holes large enough to thread through 2 strands of yarn
• Tapestry needle
• 2 spare size 6 needles or 2 stitch holders
• 1 large button for the kerchief
