As a beginner knitter I was so keen to try all the techniques I could, as quickly as I could, to feed my thirst for knowledge but sometimes I bit off more than I could chew.

This hat is designed for those knitters who, like me, thrive for adventure. A soft hat with interesting textures, simple cables and a modern shape should satisfy event the most adventurous of beginners…well maybe for a little while!

The Lùbach hat uses simple 2 x 2 ribbing that flows into long and sinuous cables that alternate around the hat and flow together beautifully through the crown shaping.

Two aran weight yarns are held together to knit this hat to provide a squishy and marled texture.

The brim can be worked longer to allow for a deep fold back brim and provides an excellent option to play with colour blocking.
