the “LUNA” reversible hat and cowl set - fully reversible, twice the fun

This reversible cowl and hat set was inspired by the markings on the barred owls near my home. The pattern uses clever slipped stitches and only one color per round to create a fully reversible fabric. Vertical stripes on one side and tweedy horizontal stripes on the other. The hat can be worn with the brim folded up to keep your ears warm or folded down for a more slouchy, relaxed look.

THE BASICS

• Includes pattern for BOTH hat and cowl

• Pattern includes 3 sizes: Toddler / Child / Adult

• Pattern is written in ENGLISH and uses standard U.S. knitting terms

• Instructions are for knitting in the round on circular needles

• Knitting skill level - INTERMEDIATE

• Gauge: 21 stitches = 4 inches (10 cm)

• HAT - approx. 70 (95, 117) yds / 64 (87, 107) m DK weight yarn in main color

• HAT - approx. 55 (75, 93) yds / 50 (69, 85) m DK weight yarn in contrast color

• COWL - approx. 95 (123, 150) yds / 87 (113, 137) m DK weight yarn in main color

• COWL - approx. 60 (77, 94) yds / 55 (71, 86) m DK weight yarn in contrast color

• U.S. size 7 (4.5 mm) 16” circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge

• U.S. size 5 (3.75 mm) 16” circular needle or 2 sizes smaller than gauge needle

• Stitch markers

• Yarn needle
