My ode to the HBO series His Dark Materials, I hope you enjoy this free pattern and that it inspires you to foray in colourwork!

Difficulty Level: 2/5
Easy colourwork with no floats to catch and only two colours worked at a time.

Techniques
The pattern uses the magic loop method, stranded colourwork, long-tail cast on, backward loops cast on and stretchy bind off.

Sizes
This mitten is designed for a women’s size small. You can easily change needle sizes or add stitches to the palm to adjust the pattern for a larger size.

Yarn
I suggest using Jamieson and Smith’s 2ply Jumper Weight (25g = 125y/115m). You will want 25g of three contrast colours and 50g of one main colour.

Gauge
The pattern is written for a gauge of 8 stitches and 9 rows per 1” using US 2.5 (3.00mm) needles in the colourwork pattern.

I hope you enjoy these mittens!
