“MacKenzie”

I wanted to use a heavy weight yarn to create something light and airy, that is easy to wear and will look equally stunning whether worn to a formal occasion or with a casual top and jeans.

I have used yarn dyed by Cookston Crafts from their Outlander colour way collection and given it the name MacKenzie after the Clan in the story.

The shawl is started with a knitting design that is traditional to the 1800s where it would have provided warmth to the wearer, I have taken that thought and kept it to the immediate shoulder area and then created a pretty lacy section. Whilst this wouldn’t have been daytime wearing for many, the Clan Mackenzie in the Outlander story had more wealth than some clans of the time and the shawl could have been worn to a gathering of importance.

It’s a pattern that’s suitable for an intermediate beginner and above or a beginner wanting to spread their wings into something new.
