When I was digging through a box of fabulous Needlework magazines, I spotted two sweaters that I loved and this sweater was inspired by them. I chose a very traditional straight sided silhouette, set-in sleeve, and v-neck construction with a close fit of one inch of ease.

Named for Madge Bellamy, one of the film stars of the 1920’s, I think you’ll enjoy the small details and classic lines of this cardigan. You could always knit it in one color, but I like the bit of contrast on the ribbed areas of this sweater.

Some Fitting Notes: If you are looking for a closer fit, you might want to remove the inch of extra ease. If you need to knit a size in between the suggested ones, simply add or subtract stitches to achieve your desired size. It may help to circle the numbers for your size throughout the pattern.

This pattern is meant for an adventurous novice to advanced knitter and all those in-between.
Both written and charted directions are included in this pattern. Please read the entire pattern before beginning.
