Magic Ribbed Bag
Pattern Notes:
Each new row in this bag begins with a chain 3. This will count as a double crochet stitch. If you choose, you can opt to do a standing double crochet stitch, there are many excellent tutorials on YouTube for this.
The stitch count is provided at the end of each row, so you can check as you go.
The bag is worked in the round, with the ‘right side’ facing out. This simply means that you keep turning it around like a clock, in the same direction for every row, rather than back and forth like some other patterns. ‘Right side facing out’ means that the side you see as you work on it, will be what is outside of the bag. I have done this because the front post double crochet stitch is much easier to do than the back post version!
I highly recommend my YouTube tutorial on the Waffle pattern for a super easy demonstration of how to do the front post double crochet stitch. I have closed captions in this video, so it is accessible for everyone. The demonstration of this stitch starts at the 6:25min mark if you would like to skip ahead: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItGg0UrKLbI&t=56s
I start this pattern with a Magic Circle. You may need to try it a few times to get the hang of it. I recommend Bella Coco’s excellent tutorial on this: https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=J7GHTfXaz2E
Finally, gauge is not super important in this pattern, as long as you stay relatively consistent!
