The photo shows Briggs and Little Durasport sock yarn, hand-dyed by a friend. Any of the sock yarns work great - I’ve knitted this pattern in Kroy, Lana Grossa, Noro, and many other sock yarns.

I designed this pattern for students taking my basic sock knitting class at our local Parks and Recreation night classes. I wanted a straight-forward, one-page pattern that I could provide for free to my knitters.

Different stages in the sock knitting are separated clearly on the pattern, and I have italicized the common sock terminology used in my pattern.

I knit this sock pattern all the time, because it has nice big sections of simple rib and stocking stitch, and fits into my purse in a little sock bag to have with me at all times. I can rely on having a good hour or so of knitting available for those times when I am stuck waiting at the doctor or dentist’s office, or travelling on day trips.
