Marine Layer is an asymmetrical long scarf designed for generous wrapping in a variety of styles. The proportions of the solid and striped sections are inspired by the traditional French sailor’s jersey. A touch of lace at the wider end evokes the foam of waves breaking against the shore.

If substituting yarn, it is essential to use a fiber blend that will respond well to blocking. Yarns which are 100% linen or wool, or a blend which is mostly linen or wool will achieve the best results. While knitting, the long Stockinette Stitch sections will curl along the length of the scarf but will block flat when appropriate yarn is used.

Notes about altering the length of the scarf are included in the pattern.
