For those days when you need a little of the elegance and decorum of the Austen era, or you want to create a bit of steampunk edge to an outfit, this quick little cowl is just the ticket.

Inspired by the gentleman’s cravat style of the same name, this chic and feminine collar is ideal for girls of all ages. Worn under a coat it livens up winter office wear (or school uniform!) and gives the wearer that extra bit of dash and panache to lighten the darker days. It is also fun for dressing up your winter knits.

With the added bonus that it needs only a very small amount of yarn and is a super-fast knit, it is ideal as a stash buster or last minute gift.

A yarn with a bit of natural firmness will work best for this project to make the collar stand up proudly.

This is rated as a beginner knit. If you can cast on, cast off and knit you can achieve this project.
