In the Spring of 2012, I was fortunate enough to travel to Tofino to teach a weekend workshop on shapings for shawls. As often happens while teaching, I hit upon a few more ideas. This one, I couldn’t resist casting on immediately.

“Middle Beach Shawlette” involves two different types of increases to shape the piece so it sits nicely around the shoulders. It’s worked mostly in garter, with stockinette ribs, and features a center panel inspired by the lines in the sand at Middle Beach on Vancouver Island.

Don’t let the “complexity” of the charts and written instructions put you off. This is an easy pattern to follow, with a visible logic. You’ll be working without instructions in no time!

Pattern is provided with full written and charted instructions.

Want a larger shawlette? You can keep knitting and cast off when out of yarn.
