The poncho was featured in the January 2013 issue of Inside Crochet and is now available as a separate pattern. There are also hat and mittens have been designed specifically to match.
Buy both patterns together and save £1.
All of the cabled accessories which are available will also match as they use the same basic three stranded cable pattern.
2 x 200g skeins (Length = 320 m / 350 yards) Lilac-4812 Aran Tweed Knitting Wool from Kilcar in Donegal, Ireland.
The Hat needs one skein and the mittens need one skein.
You can buy online from http://www.commodum.ie
It is aran weight and 100% wool. I used 8 skeins for the poncho, one for the hat and one for the mittens.
It may seem a bit expensive, the conversion rate makes it about £10 (GBP) for 200g. But when you consider that the Sirdar Click cost me £3.25 for 50g, it is actually a very reasonable price.
It is lovely to work with and gorgeous to wear.
They also sell on eBay, just search for “Donegal yarn”.
If you don’t want to get this yarn, any aran weight will be suitable.
