OUR FAMILY TRADITION:
On Christmas Eve, I hide one present for each family member somewhere in the house. I write a few clues as to the location of the present on a piece of paper, roll it up, and tuck it into each person’s stocking. Then, on Christmas morning, after all the presents have been opened, each person then gets to look on the tree for their stocking and pull out the clue to find their last present. One by one, we go on a scavenger hunt to find our last present!! This especially gives the kids something to look forward to after they’ve opened all their presents. You could even save the hunt for after the Christmas meal, or do it on Christmas Eve!! This works GREAT for big or hard-to-wrap presents!!

Skills Level: Intermediate, due to working in rounds and shaping of heel.

Stitches and Techniques used: Work in round, chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, increase.

Yarn Needed: Small amount of medium #4 weight yarn in two colors. Yarn used in Photos: Caron Simply Soft Party Yarn (with tinsel woven throughout). Red Heart Shimmer also looks great, or any red, white and green worsted weight yarn. Try making stockings with sports colors, school colors, or just someone’s favorite colors as well!!

Includes: PDF Crochet Pattern to make two variations of the stocking; one with an accent row and loop on top and one with a fold-over cuff and loop on top.

Finished Stocking Size: Measures about 5.5” including hanging loop; 3.25” tall not including the loop. Inside diameter is about 1.25” and can stretch a bit. An item about 3” tall would fit inside the stocking completely.
