The back and fronts are knit in garter stitch with mitered shaping and joined at the shoulders in the knitting process. The side seams are then sewn and the sleeves are picked up and worked in the round in stockinette stitch down to the cuff.
A garter stitch front/neck band is then picked up and worked as one piece with buttonholes added.
The pattern was originally written for two colors of worsted weight yarn (Berocco Comfort) worked alternately in stripes but the Ty-Dy version has been the most popular!
