Mitten pattern made for a workshop at Shetland Wool Week 2016: The thumb gusset

The mittens feature the two different thumb styles; the selbu style and the sore thumb. For each thumb style, there are two different ways of working the gusset.

Yarn used: For the sample mittens I used Jamieson & Smith 2ply jumper weight and other similar 2ply fingering yarn left overs.

The mittens can be worked in two colours with a nice result. If you want more colours, you can sort your yarn into gradients and work either the background colour or the houses (or both) in a different colours.
